Overview:
We’re seeking a Senior Shift Engineer for our client located in Leeds for a permanent position in Leeds Oncology. This role entails full-time work for 40 hours per week. The salary is competitive (£30,500 + 15% shift allowance £4,575 = £35,075), and includes a benefits package.
General Overview:
- Work alongside a dynamic maintenance team to deliver the required services, ensuring the Hospital is maintained to the highest standard.
- Follow a 4 “on” 4 “off” shift pattern, comprising 4 days on (06:00 to 18:00), followed by 4 days off, then 4 nights on (18:00 to 06:00), and again, 4 days off.
- Offer a customer-facing, highly responsive maintenance service to the Leeds Oncology Wing.
- Undertake a wide range of reactive and planned maintenance tasks and carry these out to a very high standard
- Provide technical guidance, assistance, and information to fellow maintenance team members.
- Undergo training to fulfil Authorised Person duties.
- Demonstrate high levels of multi-skilling and flexibility in work.
- Manage a small shift team consisting of Maintenance Craftsman and Maintenance Assistants.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the shift team and provide support to colleagues during work.
- Conduct maintenance, repairs, testing, and inspection of building, mechanical, and electrical services, along with associated systems, plant, and equipment, adhering to relevant standards and operational procedures.
- Perform duties in line with safe working practices.
- Maintain, service, and repair various building services including:
- Heating and domestic water services
- General electrical services such as lighting and power
- Air handling units
- Low voltage electrical distribution system and switchgear
- Emergency standby generating plant
- Fire alarm systems and emergency lighting
- Electrical control systems
- Building Management System
- Demonstrate awareness of operational procedures and safe working practices concerning major plant and systems.
- Keep records and complete service reports as required, providing regular progress reports to your line manager.
- Occasionally undertake installation work for minor upgrades and adaptations.
- Assist other skilled trades in maintenance, repairs, testing, inspection, and installation tasks.
- Pursue training to maintain and enhance skills in alignment with service requirements.
- Act as Competent or Authorised Person when directed and appointed.
- Collaborate and carry out duties at other healthcare projects as instructed.
- Work overtime as needed to sustain service levels.
- Fulfil any other duties as appropriate to your grade.
Qualifications or Required Experience:
- Qualified time served engineer with minimum 3 years post apprenticeship experience required.
- Healthcare experience desirable but not essential.
- Cross-trade experience advantageous.
