We are seeking a highly experienced Strategic Asset Manager that specialises in advising clients on the effective management and optimisation of their mechanical and electrical asset portfolios. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working on PFI contracts, with a strong focus on asset replacement cost analysis and labour loading strategies. This role will involve providing strategic guidance to a range of clients, helping them enhance asset performance, extend asset life cycles, and optimize operational costs.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Advisory on Strategic Asset Management: Work with clients to develop and implement long-term asset management strategies for mechanical and electrical systems. Provide tailored recommendations to optimise asset performance, lifecycle, and cost-efficiency, aligned with client objectives.
  • PFI Contract Expertise: Advise clients on managing assets within Public Finance Initiative (PFI) contracts. Ensure compliance with PFI obligations and provide strategic insights to improve asset value throughout the contract lifecycle.
  • Asset Replacement & Lifecycle Forecasting: Provide clients with detailed asset replacement and lifecycle plans. Analyse aging assets, project future replacement needs, and recommend cost-effective replacement strategies.
  • Labour Loading Consultancy: Offer expert advice on labour loading strategies to ensure clients’ maintenance and replacement activities are resource efficient. Guide clients on staffing levels, resource allocation, and cost controls.
  • Cost Analysis & Budgeting: Perform thorough analysis of clients’ asset replacement costs and maintenance expenses. Recommend cost saving measures without sacrificing asset reliability and performance.
  • Risk & Compliance Management: Identify potential risks associated with clients’ asset portfolios, including operational, financial, and compliance risks. Recommend risk mitigation strategies, ensuring alignment with industry regulations and safety standards.
  • Data-Driven Asset Insights: Help clients leverage data analytics to track asset performance, maintenance trends, and lifecycle costs. Provide regular reporting and presentations to clients on asset optimization and decision-making improvements.
  • Collaboration with Client Teams: Work closely with client stakeholders, including Facilities Managers, Engineers, and Finance Teams, to ensure seamless implementation of asset management strategies and alignment with their operational goals.
  • Best Practice and Innovation: Stay up to date with the latest industry developments, technologies, and regulatory requirements. Advise clients on adopting best practices and innovative approaches to asset management.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • PFI Experience: Proven expertise in advising clients on managing assets within PFI frameworks. Strong understanding of PFI contract compliance, performance monitoring, and asset optimisation.
  • Mechanical & Electrical Systems Knowledge: Solid technical background in mechanical and electrical systems, with experience managing these assets in sectors such as healthcare, infrastructure, or education.
  • Asset Replacement & Costing: Extensive experience in asset replacement cost analysis, lifecycle cost management, and budget forecasting.
  • Labour Loading Expertise: Demonstrated ability to design and implement labour loading and resource allocation strategies for clients.
  • Consulting Experience: Previous experience working in a consultancy capacity, providing asset management advice and solutions to clients across diverse industries.
  • Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of cost control, budgeting, and financial performance analysis related to asset management.
  • Project Management: Proven track record of managing complex projects, ensuring timely delivery of solutions and meeting client expectations.
  • Data-Driven Approach: Ability to leverage data analytics to provide actionable insights for clients on asset performance, maintenance strategies, and cost optimization.
  • Strong Communication & Client Engagement: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present complex asset strategies and reports to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, related field or equivalent working experience.
  • Relevant professional certifications in asset management (e.g., IAM Certificate/Diploma).
  • Experience working on mechanical and electrical asset management in industries such as healthcare, infrastructure, or public services.
  • Familiarity with asset management software systems (e.g., CMMS, CAFM).
