We have an excellent opportunity for a Commercial Manager/Quantity Surveyor to join our Complex Facilities Team on a full-time, permanent basis. This role is based in Birmingham and offers hybrid working


Role Overview

The purpose of the role is to implement commercial best practices to maximise value while minimising risk and cost to the business. You will ensure compliance with established systems, processes, and procedures to deliver post-contract management on. This is a PFI agreement involving the management and delivery of a wide range of facilities management services, including lifecycle, capital expenditure, and maintenance works, within a fast-paced, challenging environment


Responsibilities

  • Implement commercial processes to ensure contractual entitlements are realised
  • Create robust coding structures to facilitate accurate cost capture
  • Manage subcontractor accounts in line with agreed documentation
  • Play a key role in the Management Team, reporting to the divisional structure
  • Meet strict deadlines as required under the contracts and company guidelines
  • Prepare commercial reports, including cost-value reconciliations and cash flow forecasts, in collaboration with finance colleagues
  • Lead the production of weekly/monthly cost and value reconciliations and forecasts, advising the Project Manager/Senior Commercial Manager
  • Oversee all aspects of subcontract procurement and payment
  • Support tender processes and strategies when required
  • Provide commercial and financial feedback to relevant support functions
  • Deliver commercial support to other contracts as required or directed
  • Submit final anticipated client outturn costs with each application for payment
  • Submit timely Change Requests, including price and programme impacts, for agreement
  • Offer sound commercial and contractual advice to the Account Manager and team members


What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Degree qualification (RICS accredited or equivalent) or demonstrable experience in quantity surveying/commercial management in a senior role
  • Competency in basic computer skills
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen
  • Ability to manage time, set priorities, and meet strict deadlines
  • Methodical and structured working style
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Knowledge of contracts and ability to maintain positive client relationships while protecting contractual entitlements
  • Team player with a commitment to mentoring junior team members
  • Resilience under pressure


Desirable:

  • Experience with subcontract management and PFI contracts
