Site Manager
As a Civils Site Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day monitoring of contractor compliance with health and safety regulations on-site, as well as managing the installation of a wide range of ducting and cable infrastructure. You will conduct quality assurance audits and ongoing snagging of works in progress, ensuring that projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Health & Safety Compliance: Follow established safety practices, work to distribution safety rules, and ensure compliance with legislative and environmental responsibilities.
- Hazard Management: Identify and eliminate hazards and dangerous situations; conduct and monitor method statements, risk assessments, and Point of Work Risk Assessments (POWRA).
- CDM Management: Control CDM procedures as Principal Contractor, ensuring all works are carried out safely and in accordance with the Construction Health and Safety Plan.
- Safety Audits: Carry out safety audits, risk assessments, and hazard management to ensure site safety aligns with Workplace Health & Safety requirements.
- Contractor Oversight: Monitor contractors to ensure the use of proper PPE, tool maintenance, and adherence to safety standards.
- Resource Management: Ensure efficient and cost-effective use of resources on-site, including tools, equipment, and plant.
- Client Liaison: Act as the main point of contact for the client on-site, ensuring clear communication and issue resolution.
- Documentation: Mark up drawings to show as-laids, issue permits and safety documentation, and ensure compliance with required safety protocols.
Additional Accountabilities
- Monitor excavation works and use of cable avoidance equipment (CAT).
- Conduct daily plant pre-use checks and maintain standard tools and equipment, ensuring they are PAT tested.
- Manage temporary works as a Temporary Works Co-ordinator (if qualified).
- Ensure security and maintenance of tools, plant, and vehicles at the worksite.
- Participate in project staging and contribute to achieving agreed timeframes.
- Ensure successful audits on completed works.
Candidate Requirements
- SMSTS Qualification.
- NGED Authorisation and Access.
- First Aid Certification.
- Temporary Works Co-ordinator (preferable but not essential).
- Demonstrated experience in managing health and safety, quality assurance, and contractor compliance in similar roles.
There are 5 positions available for an initial 6 month contact, outside IR35.
