Senior Commercial Manager

Our market leading FM client is seeking a highly experienced and proactive Senior Commercial Manager to provide day-to-day commercial support across key strategic accounts and large portfolios. This role is essential in leading the development of commercial strategies, advising on complex contractual issues, and identifying and managing legal, financial, and commercial risks and opportunities. You will work closely with account management teams and senior leadership to ensure compliance, drive efficiencies, and deliver value through expert commercial guidance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide commercial management support during bids, contract negotiations, and ongoing account delivery.
  • Guide account teams on interpreting and applying contract terms, including payment mechanisms, KPIs, liabilities, scope, and specifications.
  • Ensure risk and opportunity registers are actively maintained, with clear and actionable plans in place.
  • Lead the resolution of commercial risks and issues in partnership with Contract Managers.
  • Oversee the execution of contract variations and change orders, ensuring alignment with contract requirements and internal policies.
  • Mentor and support Commercial Managers and junior commercial staff.
  • Ensure accuracy and updates to the central contract register.
  • Coordinate and support the preparation of Head Contract Commercial Reviews with input from other functions.
  • Prepare and review contract documentation in support of bids and negotiations.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal systems, processes, and procedures to align with commercial requirements.
  • Review and approve documents requiring commercial sign-off within delegated authority levels.


Skills & Experience Required

  • Extensive experience in contract negotiation, risk and opportunity management.
  • Proven ability to resolve complex commercial issues.
  • Strong understanding and management of KPIs and payment mechanisms.
  • Solid knowledge of contract terms and negotiation strategies.
  • Ability to identify, evaluate, and communicate contractual and commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Experience with various contract forms across different sectors and work packages.
  • Skilled in interpreting and advising on contract obligations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing commercial processes and procedures.
