The purpose of this role is to implement commercial best practices aimed at maximizing value and minimising risk and cost within the business. Ensuring compliance with systems, processes, and procedures to manage post-contract obligations for contracts in a fast-paced and challenging business environment


Role Responsibilities:

  • Implement commercial processes to realise contractual entitlements
  • Implement group commercial processes for cost capture, valuation, procurement, and reporting
  • Manage subcontractor accounts in line with agreed subcontract documentation
  • Establish benchmarks and manage KPIs for contracts
  • Prepare commercial reports including cost value reconciliations and cash flow forecasts
  • Exercise full cost control of projects, including budgeting and forecasting
  • Lead the production of weekly/monthly cost and value reconciliations and forecasts
  • Assist in ensuring timely issuance of all notices required under contracts
  • Manage all aspects of subcontract procurement and payment
  • Support tender processes and strategy
  • Provide commercial and financial feedback to relevant support functions
  • Maintain professional relationships with stakeholders
  • Provide all necessary cost/commercial information under contracts
  • Submit applications for payment and change requests in a timely manner
  • Provide commercial and contractual advice to team members
  • Promote a team-working environment and instill commercial awareness
  • Manage and develop individuals within the commercial team
  • Undertake Performance Development Reviews for direct reports
  • Promote safety culture and participate in regular project meetings


Requirements:

  • Degree qualification in quantity surveying/commercial management or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen
  • Ability to manage time, set priorities, and work to strict deadlines
  • Methodical working style
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel and Word
  • Desire to foster client relationships while safeguarding contractual entitlements
  • Team player with a determination to coach junior team members
  • Motivation and drive to succeed
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Sound knowledge of contracts and industry issues
